A phone line that picks up.

Twilio gives an AI agent a phone number, a way to answer calls and a way to send messages. The tricky part isn't the code; it's local number rules and knowing when to hand the caller to a person.

Short answer

ORVL uses Twilio's Programmable Voice to let AI voice agents answer inbound calls, speak with callers, transfer to staff and record a transcript, and Twilio's messaging APIs for SMS and, where suitable, WhatsApp. Number availability and VoIP rules differ by country: in the Netherlands and Belgium local numbers need address and identity documents, and in the UAE internet-based calling is restricted, so for UAE lines we often connect your existing local number instead. One system from €3,900 excl. VAT.

What we connect

Calls in, messages out.

For voice, Twilio streams the call audio to the agent in real time; the agent listens, answers and can transfer the call to a person's phone with a short whisper summary. Every call can produce a transcript and a summary in your CRM.

Regulation is country by country. Twilio requires regulatory bundles (business details and proof of address) for many local numbers, including Dutch and Belgian ones. In the UAE, VoIP services are licensed and restricted, so whether a Twilio number is the right route depends on your setup; we often forward an existing UAE line from your telecom provider to the agent instead.

What agents do in Twilio.

03Warm transfer

Callers handed to a person with a spoken or texted summary of the call.

04Reminders by SMS

Appointment and payment reminders for customers who agreed to receive them.

05Call summaries

Transcript, reason for the call and next step written to the CRM.

Access & security

How access works.

Recording calls and sending texts come with consent rules.

Callers told at the start that they are talking to an AI assistant, and can ask for a person
Recording only where you have a basis and callers are informed
No outbound cold calling by AI; reminders only to people who agreed
API keys scoped per project; call logs retained only as long as you decide

FAQ

Common questions.

Can the agent call people?

It can make agreed calls, such as reminders or callbacks the customer requested. We don't build AI cold-calling campaigns; they conflict with marketing rules in the UAE, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Can we keep our current number?

Usually yes: either by porting it to Twilio where that's allowed, or by forwarding calls from your existing line to the agent.

What does Twilio cost?

Twilio charges per minute and per message, with rates by country. Check Twilio's own pricing pages; we estimate your usage in the Blueprint.
